NO WHITE TENT Affordable Art/Craft Shows

Artists, crafters, hobbyists UNITE against White Tent Art Shows

Hey Everyone

I remember in 2008 that the Atomic Holiday Bazaar was posted here & some of you were vendors there. I applied for this year & was rejected because Adrien stated that he did not need more jewelry vendors....even though I am visual fantasy artist.

I have sent him several emails (even through myspace) since July to try & explain my situation to him & he has not returned one of my emails. I feel like I am being ignored at this point which is rather frustrating.

Did anyone have similar problems last year?
Does anyone have any input on this show?

I would greatly appreciate any information you can share. thanks!

I applied last year and got rejected after waiting for months to hear a reply. The reply I got was "It doesn't fit in." I sell plush kitties and puppies, I sell to all ages, males and females both. My product is very unique, no one has anything like it and I have never been turned down for any show except this one! I will never apply again, and I personally think it is who you know to get in.

Hi Susie

Thank you so much for your input, I appreciate it! I was getting the same feeling too. and like you, my art is not like anyone elses. Sure there are fantasy artists out there but mine does not look like theirs' & there are none that even live in this area so I just didn't get it. I do sell my artwork on some gift items, like cameos & earrings, but that is not the main thing I sell.

Its too bad the person who runs it doesn't respond to emails, because it seems like he/she may be giving themselves their own bad reputation. *sigh* I don't mind if I am rejected to a show, but I feel the respectable thing would be for me to get a legitimate reason that pertains to my art, not my giftware.

Yes, I think most of us had problems with the show many different ways. This just isn't an easy show to get into. I'm not sure anyone made it in as a vendor...or just one person. I've been rejected something like 3x so I don't apply anymore. I meet a lot of people who tell me I would be perfect for the show and I just sort of grit my teeth together. They do have a large percentage of returning vendors so the availability to "new" people may not be that large.

I am glad a local group has put together a good show. But...still.

There must be a better way to handle people they don't want in the show. I think they should just invite the people they wish to be in the show myself.

Thanks for the info Rhonda. Its too bad the organizer is really shooting themselves in the foot by having such poor communication. When other vendors drop out, I would not feel comfortable signing up for this show because it seems to be poorly organized based on the lack of communication.

Oh well, Im just gonna think of it as "not my loss" & move on! hehe
